Mission Statement
HUE is an organization dedicated to the preservation of marine history through discovering and documenting past events that now lay below the surface of the water.
The HUE team strives to inform and educated the public of historical events through documentaries, reports, and photographs, that bridge the past with present.
Our goal is to explore historically important areas of the globe in order to document them for future generations.
Although HUE does seek private funding, most of the efforts of the group are voluntary and are not for the personal financial gain of its members.
Who we are
John J. Earle - Underwater Cameraman/Explorer
John’s passion for history is surpassed only by his love of adventure and discovering artifacts that are long since forgotten.
He worked on his first film shoot in 2000/2001 and was quickly hooked. He then started purchasing his own professional video equipment and started learning how to hone his craft. Taking the gear below the water was a natural next step.
John enjoys diving year round in warm and cold waters, and holds the HUE record for finding and losing the most dive gear in a week.
Frank C. Burelle - Animator/Graphic Designer
Unafraid of being called a nerd, Frank proudly professes his love for documentary films.
Frank has been a Cartoonist and Graphic Designer since 1991. But it is his passion for film making that brought him to the HUE team. He has worked for four years as a designer for an animated show on the Comedy Network as well as pilot projects for several Ottawa based production companies. He has also experimented with a few documentaries of his own.
Although HUE specializes in under water exploration, Frank prefers to stay above water…where it’s safe and dry.
Paul J. Bouvier - Underwater Explorer/Grip
Paul’s fascination with the underwater world is his motivation to dive, dive, dive! “There is so much more to discover than simply diving ship wrecks” says Paul. Finding an old bottle that dates back to the eighteen hundreds is much more gratifying to him than sliding down a rope dive to an over dived wreck.
Paul’s travels have taken him to some interesting places both above and below the water. India, Singapore, Jamaica, Cozumel to name a few. He hopes to explore the farther reaches of the world and share them via documentaries.
Paul’s ability to find anything underwater has minimized John’s list of lost gear.
